United want 'miracle transfer guru'

Man Utd are reportedly among the clubs interested in hiring Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta.
The Metro claims - via Italian football agent agent Dario Canovi - that Berta would replace Ed Woodward as the man who oversees United's transfer business.
Berta, adds The Metro, was responsible for the signings of Jan Oblak and Jose Gimenez at Atletico. He has also worked for Parma and Genoa.

Schneiderlin to end United misery

Morgan Schneiderlin's miserable 18-month spell at United is nearing an end with Everton moving closer to signing the France midfielder in a permanent deal.
Everton are in talks about bringing Schneiderlin to Goodison Park with United hopeful of agreeing a package that will see them recoup the £24 million they paid Southampton for the 27-year-old in July last year.
Schneiderlin has not started a Premier League game for United this season after being frozen out under manager Jose Mourinho and has come to accept his interests will be best served by a move.

Redan, steady, go!

Big story in the works here, with news from The Mirror that United will pip a number of European clubs to the signature of Ajax starlet Daishawn Redan.
The Dutch striker has scored five goals in six appearances for the Holland U-17 team and could put pen to paper on a deal at Old Trafford in January.

Kick in the Dijk

Manchester United are set to lose out in their quest to sign Virgil van Dijk, with the Southampton centre-back intent on snubbing Jose Mourinho's advances and opting to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Van Dijk has been impressing down on the south coast this season, where he has gained suitors left, right and centre.
United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all interested in snapping up the Dutchman next month, but the Daily Record claims he would rather work with Guardiola at Man City.

Round-up

Morning all, and welcome to our daily round-up of all things Manchester United transfer related.
First of all, reports are circulating in Italy, principally from calciomerto.com, that Roma are weighing up a loan move for Memphis Depay in January, with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season. Roma will lose star man Mohamed Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations in January so are keen to snap up a replacement.
Depay though could be heading to Everton instead, as reported in The Telegraph. Ronald Koeman is interested in signing the Dutchman on loan, and is also looking for a reunion with French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, whom he worked with at Southampton.
Our northern football correspondent James Ducker wrote:
Jose Mourinho has admitted that he will not stand in the way of Morgan Schneiderlin or Memphis Depay if they request a move from Manchester United after being largely frozen out of the first team.
Ronald Koeman, the Everton manager, is eager to sign Schneiderlin, with whom he worked at Southampton, and Dutch compatriot Depay on loan next month, although the high wages of both players could be a stumbling block.

One player though who may be staying for a little longer than previously thought is German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who looks set to stay at Old Trafford until the end of the season, despite interest from Major League Soccer clubs.
When asked if he expected Schweinsteiger to stay beyond next month, manager Jose Mourinho responded: "I do. Unless again the player knocks on our door with a future that he wants to grab with both hands."

Overall, the Manchester United hierarchy believe Mourinho needs two more transfer windows to really stamp his identity on the squad.
Mourinho meanwhile has broken his silence on the potential departures next month, and said:
"I am always open to listen to offers for every player. I am always ready to listen to the players themselves. So any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving, even if it is to a rival. No problem at all.
"I am happy with the squad I have. I would like my squad to be my squad until the end of the season. I am not going to any player to say: 'You are going to leave because I don't want you.'"

Finally, here's a reminder of the main transfer rumours from yesterday.
  • PSG forward Edinson Cavani could be on his way to Old Trafford. According to The Daily Express, Cavani and his representatives are stalling on signing a new deal (which has been offered) while they weigh up their options.
  • Former Ajax prospect Millen Baars is set to join United in January, reveals The Daily Star.
  • The Daily Star is claiming Antoine Griezmann could be heading to Manchester United. The paper cites journalist Pilib de Brun - a talkSPORT contributor - as its source. According to De Brun, United are 'very confident' of getting a deal done for the Atletico Madrid and France forward.
